Update: What I’ve Been Up To

Updates have been slow lately as I’ve been focused on getting things set up at the school. There are a lot of things that need to be done, such as contractual agreements, accounting details, office set-up (to create an inspiring office environment), course design, pitching proposals, etc!

Besides that, I’ve also recently upped my coaching quota again from 12 to 16 active clients (earlier it was from 8 to 12). From a productivity standpoint, that’s a 100% increase in number of coachees and in 2 months, so I feel pretty happy about it :D . This is really helping to close up the waiting list which is now tracking to Dec ‘09. My target is to cut the time for clients on the weight list from 3-4 months to 0 months in the near future.

Moving forward, I’ll work out an updating frequency which best matches my current schedule. I figure having a regular frequency will be better for you readers too, so you don’t have to check back at the blog in vain. (Of course, if you haven’t already subscribed to the RSS and/or email, it’s probably good if you do so now!) My ideal goal is to post twice a week, though it currently looks like it might be once a week. Let’s see how things pan out first. Once again, my priority is on producing quality content over quantity, so I wouldn’t want to be posting at a certain frequency just for the sake of it.

Speaking on quality, I was reading some of my old posts a few weeks back and realized my writing style has changed quite a bit over the past 9 months. My earlier articles were very much written from my heart. Lately, they are being written from my head. What this means is the articles are now very rich in information (this is part of a conscious effort to produce timeless, quality content), but they come across as somewhat soulless. While there is still an emotional connection (since my writings are driven by my desire to help others grow), it pales in comparison with some of my older classics, such as the sleepwalking article.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think writing from the head and writing from the heart are mutually exclusive. I think it’s entirely possible to do both together and this is something I’ll work on for my future writings.

School-wise, I’m excited to say things are all up and running :D ! A big part of the setting-up process was on turning my office into an inspiring environment for work. Some readers have requested that I take photos of the new office which I think is a brilliant idea. I just need to borrow a digital camera from someone first as I lost mine earlier this year. Stay tuned for the pictures.

My first group class starts this week and it’s a 7-week, intensive course for JC2 students to get them fully ready for A levels which is less than 2 months away. This is first in my line up of academic excellence series workshops which I’m working exclusively on with a selected Junior College. I’ll also be launching a series of career excellence workshops soon which will cover everything required to achieve career excellence. More on these in due time! :D

Meanwhile, have a great week ahead! :D
