RSSPoll: Do You Prefer to Have Pictures in the Articles?

The survey is still ongoing, so you can still comment if you haven’t already! Since all of you are so ready and open with your responses, I’ll start sharing ideas/thoughts in the future to get your feedback.
This week, I’ve a poll for you guys: Do you prefer to have pictures in the articles?
This is a question which I’ve been pondering on and off. There have been various people telling me that they prefer to see pictures in the articles to liven the reading experience, while some people have told me it really doesn’t matter and they’re here for the writings. Quite frankly, there are strong reasons to support either stand and I haven’t reached a conclusion on this. Since you guys are the ones reading the articles, I thought it’s best to hear you out. The outcome of the poll will most likely decide my course of action. Simply cast your vote in the poll in the sidebar on the right.

The poll expires this Sunday, 2nd Aug and I’ll round up the votes after that. Please vote in the poll and not just comment as I’m using the total votes as the measure. From there, I’ll make the decision on whether to include pictures in my future posts. So vote away!
Update after 6 hours: This is very interesting – I’m getting numerous feedback (both in comments section and via email) from readers that they actually prefer no pictures! The votes are also currently looking even between Yes and No (5 votes each), with a number of people being indifferent (4 votes). This is different from what I had thought – I thought most would favor having a picture. Keep the votes and feedback coming guys!!

Well it doesn’t matter because the content of the articles is the main thing, but although it will give the post more richness to add a couple of pictures or other media.
But as I said: at the end the contents of the post are the main thing.
And thanks for this great website!

I prefer pictures in the post as it makes the post looks more interesting. Just my 2 cents worth.

Personally I don’t prefer pictures in an article.
Of course! Pictures are important as they act as attention grabbers…
Some may argue that the headline itself is sufficient but I know after testing that pictures really help pull in the readers

Sometimes a picture says a thousand words. But sometimes a picture is just a distraction.
Good content is definitely more impt than layout. Humourous content is a plus.

I think a picture can be useful if it’s relevant to the article, sometimes people use too many and it distracts from the point. It depends on the subject matter too.

I think in some cases, a photo will help give a visual depiction of the topic. While the content is the most important thing, a visual representation of a topic can cement it into your mind and help retain the information later. I know that I have read posts, and the next time I see the image that was in it, I automatically remember the topic of the post without even seeing the title.

As a blogger myself, I tend to prefer NO pictures in posts. If I set myself to upload a post image for every post, most of the pictures will be unrelated. I don’t want that to happen. If I’m writing a post and I have a matching image: I won’t hesitate to publish it.
I like post images – when they fit in the context.
You already have the answer to your question. Confirmation is only useful to the extent of those who participate. I reckon you follow your heart =)

Yes, because the mind are more accustomed to images than words. hence the famous 1 line, picture paint a thousand word.
Also, it would make the post more attractive.

Sunday is drawing to a close and it seems quite apparent that the votes are leading towards having pictures in post, unless there’s some dramatic shift in the next 4 hours. I’ve also received several insightful thoughts from readers on their take of the whole picture/no picture deal which I will definitely factor in. I’ll be writing up a separate post to conclude the survey, so stay tuned!
My 1cent worth is that pictures will help to profile the post/s. They ‘sort of’ bringing d post/s to life!
