Poll Results
Thanks everyone for participating on the earlier poll on whether to have pictures or not in the posts!
The poll has ended and the results are as follow (total of 50 votes):
- Yes, it improves reading experience (46%, 23 Votes)
- I’m fine eitherway (32%, 16 Votes)
- No, I’m here for the content (22%, 11 Votes)
It appears that the majority vote is in the favor of having pictures in the posts. Since that is the case, I will start to add pictures in future posts
At the same time, content is the key, so I’ll definitely put that as the focus even as I start adding visuals to the articles. My plan is to have 1 image for an article or possibly 2 images for long articles so it will be well-balanced.
Some visitors have also rightly pointed out that an image only works if it’s relevant to the article which I fully agree. I’ll only be adding images if and where applicable. If I can’t find a picture which expresses the post well, I won’t add any.
Survey on Logo Interpretation
The reader survey on your interpretation of the blog’s logo also gathered really interesting answers!!
Here are some of your thoughts, gathered from feedback in the comments section and on my facebook:
This is so psychological
its like taking a Rorschach test ! My first impression of it is positive. It’s a person singing or shouting to the world saying “I did it! I finally did it!”. Its a triumphant message. – Sandra
I see a person stretching our his arms, receiving the energies of the world
– Edgar
The logo reminds me of a particular position called ‘the tree’ that I did on a stage during the sunrise to absorb the energy of the sun and take its energy. – Oscar
What I see is a person emphatically reaching out to the world, and standing on a sand dune. The person in the logo has his arms out like I envision myself doing when giving a speech to a stadium of people in the future. A message of success is in that logo. – Armen
It looks like someone who is standing in a high place, maybe the top of a mountain, opening their arms and welcoming anything that life has to throw at them, because they know they will be successful no matter what comes their way. – Kristi
To me it means One in mind, Many in body. As a Nichiren Buddhist I chant Nam Myo Renge Kyo to bring forth my highest life condition and overcome all hardships in life. Life is about winning. VICTORY!! Never be defeated! – Robert
Someone who’s just conquered all his/her challenges. – Annette
I see the logo as someone who is empowered, victorious, confident and ready to take on the world. – Amin
Someone who is reaching out for his/her dreams! – Ava
The joy of life. A person receiving the dawn light or getting ready to jump in the sea and swim. Being it “humanized” makes it more appealing than a symbolic approach. – Dragos
The logo to me looks like someone reaching for the sky, joyful, powerful. Full of energy, a celebration of life. I really like it. – Dawn
Thanks so much everyone for sharing your thoughts
! These are all terrific answers, and as mentioned before, there is no right or wrong interpretation – only your own interpretation of what it is.
I personally see the logo as someone who is living life in its entirety and soaking in its core essence. By that, it means continuous pursuit of personal excellence – always leaping out of his/her comfort zone, putting himself/herself in the face of every single challenge that comes along the way, turning those challenges into gold while at the same time, fully relishing in anything and everything that life has to offer in the present moment.
The Personal Excellence Blog
If you have noticed, the blog is now centered on the theme of personal excellence and called The Personal Excellence Blog.
I’ve been thinking for a while on the most appropriate theme for the site (beyond just being personal development) and finally arrived at my answer last week. Excellence has always been one of my core values – I’m passionate about achieving my highest potential and enabling others to do the same too. Thus, it almost second nature that the theme of the blog should be anchored on excellence itself and to gather people who are passionate about achieving their own personal excellence
Facebook Fanpage
In line of that, I just set up a Facebook Fanpage for The Personal Excellence Blog. Within 2 days, there is already over 500 fans (Update after 5 hours – there are now 600 fans!!) Update May 2010 – We have hit the 3,000 fans mark! Thanks to everyone who joined – to those who haven’t, you are invited to join us if you are passionate about personal growth and excellence. To those who have, please feel free to extend the invitation to all your friends and family. Let’s work to grow the community big and connect everyone with the same passion in excellence!
Coaching and Guest Posts
Meanwhile, if you are wondering the reason behind the slow posting at this blog, it’s because I have been busy with coaching, business administration work, guest posting and some projects which I can’t wait to unroll. The coaching waiting list has been growing longer and longer so I decided to increase my ongoing coachee quota from 8 to 12. Many coachees have chosen to extend the coaching too which was something I didn’t anticipate, so I’m planning to increase my quota further from 12 to 16 later this month to sort out the waiting list issue. At the moment the waiting list is tracking to November, so if you’re interested to sign up, please do so now to reserve your slot in Nov.
I’ve also been guest posting at other fellow bloggers’ sites, so if you are interested, here are some of the guest posts which have been published, with more to come:
